New Bmwi Energy Research Funding Notice Published Support For Whole Energy Value Chain Including Renewables Ccs And Energy Efficiency

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has published a new energy research funding notice (F"orderbekanntmachung) that has become effective on 1 January 2015. The notice relates to the government's 6th Energy Research Programme. In line with the programme it provides support for research along the whole energy value chain from power generation (including CCS) to transmission, distribution and storage as well as for energy efficiency. Germany's goal to transform the energy supply so that by 2050 power is largely supplied by renewable resources and a high degree of energy efficiency is reached can only be reached by using innovative technologies and solutions, BMWi points out. The aim of public funding is to reduce the considerable economical and technological risk associated with the development of new energy and energy efficiency technologies and allow for system optimisation by innovation. All energy-related technologies with the exception of biomass are eligible for support, including system integration of renewable energy sources and energy system analysis. Areas in which research support can be granted include (numbering from the funding notice) * 3.1. Wind Power * 3.2. PV power * 3.3. Deep geothermal energy * 3.4. Solar thermal power plants * 3.5. Hydro power and marine energy * 3.6. Conventional power plant technologies including CCS * 3.7. Fuel cells and hydrogen technologies * 3.8. Energy storage * 3.9. Electricity grids * 3.10. System integration of renewable power sources * 3.11. Energy optimisation of buildings and neighbourhoods - decentralised and solar supply * 3.12. Energy efficiency in the industry, trade and service sector * 3.13. Energy-related key elements in the electromobility sector * 3.14. System analysis * 3.15. Cross-sector related technologies supporting the energy transition BMWi encourages in particular small and middle-sized companies to apply. International projects are also of particular concern to BMWi. They can for example receive funding under the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) (Strategic Energy Technology) of the European Union, BMWi points out.
